Sumaithangi Trust Provides Vital Food Relief to Perumbakkam Residents Affected by Heavy Rains
On 16th October 2024 , Sumaithangi Trust carried out a large-scale food distribution event to support the people affected by heavy rain and north east monsoon in the Perumbakkam TNUHDB resettlement area. The continuous rainfall on 14th and 15th October left many residents struggling, particularly differently-abled persons, elderly people, and children. To provide immediate relief, Sumaithangi Trust distributed meals to nearly 2,500 people . Breakfast consisted of Idlis, while lunch included Sambar rice and bread packets.
This initiative was a critical intervention during a time of distress, ensuring that the vulnerable sections of the community received essential sustenance. The Trust's timely efforts brought immense relief to the affected families, underscoring its commitment to supporting the community in times of crisis. The initiative was well-received, and it highlighted the importance of solidarity during emergencies.
