International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women On 25th November 2024 , Sumaithangi Trust, Perumbakkam , observed the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women with a significant event aimed at spreading awareness and empowering women in the community. The event featured an impressive panel of chief guests and speakers, including Prof. Saraswati, Retired, Pen Urimai Iyakkam; Mrs. Hydwick Rosy , Ex-CCDO, TNUHDB; Dr. Esther Mariaselvam , Associate Director, Action Aid; Dr. K. A. N. Legis , Social Development Specialist for Women and Children, TNUHDB; Mrs. Suja Devi , Sub-Inspector of Police, Perumbakkam; Mrs. Maria Elizabeth, Advocate, High Court and Mrs. M.S. Jayalakshmi , Managing trustee, Sumaithangi Trust.

The speakers shared their extensive experience in addressing issues related to women's rights and combating violence. Key discussions emphasized the importance of women being strong and vocal against any form of violence within their communities. Practical guidance was provided on how women can assert their rights as equals to men.
