Recovery Efforts After Michaung Cyclone Devastate Tamil Nadu Tenements


Supporting Perumbakkam and Chemmanchery After Michaung Cyclone: Sumaithangi Trust Responds with AidThe aftermath of the Michaung Cyclone wreaked havoc on Tamil Nadu's urban habitat, particularly impacting the Tenements at Perumbakkam and Chemmanchery. With water invasion causing significant damage, 2500 families on the ground floor endured immense losses as their belongings were washed away.

Responding promptly, Sumaithangi Trust stepped in on December 26th and 27th, 2023, distributing 800 sleeping mats and 800 bedsheets to 30 Alphabetic blocks and 8 Numerical blocks within the affected areas. This humanitarian effort provided critical relief to those grappling with the aftermath of the disaster. By supporting the affected communities with essential bedding materials, the trust helped alleviate some of the immediate challenges faced by the residents, fostering resilience and recovery in the wake of the cyclone.
