On 27 April 2024, Sumaithangi Trust celebrated Women's day along with the distribution of certificates for the beneficiaries of skill training. We thank Mrs. Meenakshi, CEO, United Way of Chennai, Mr. Shivashankaran, Superintendent Engineer, TNUHDB, Mr. Kumaresan, Executive Engineer, TNUHDB, Mr. Nirmal Raj, CCDO , TNUHDB, Mr. Suvakeen, CDO, TNUHDB, Mr. Darwin Moses, CO, TNUHDB, Mrs. Gladys, Senior manager - Programs, United Way of Chennai, Mr, Mohammed Dadaji, Lead specialist -Partnerships, United Way of Chennai, Mr. Seetharaman , EXNORA and Mr. Siva Kumaran, Advocate - High court for their presence and their inspirational speech.


The event commenced promptly at 10 o'clock with the traditional Tamil Thai Vazthu followed by the ceremonial candle lighting conducted by our esteemed chief guest alongside the dedicated trainers from Sumaithangi Trust. Ms. Estha, the Project Coordinator of Sumaithangi Trust, gracefully assumed the role of program host after a warm welcome address by Ms. Estha Emily Thomas. Mr. Vinu Kumar then delivered an insightful introductory address, providing the audience with comprehensive information about the Trust and its objectives. Following this, beneficiaries from various skill training programs shared their heartfelt experiences and the positive transformations they experienced over the months, both for their families and themselves. The chief guest and the speakers delivered an inspiring and heartfelt speech, expressing gratitude for the program's impact on the beneficiaries' lives. After the speeches, students from Sumaithangi Trust performed a captivating and motivational dance highlighting women's empowerment. This was followed by the distribution of certificates and kits to beneficiaries who completed training in tailoring, Aari work, sanitary napkin making, door mat making, Areca plate making, cookery, and housekeeping. The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Vinoth Babu, the Project Coordinator, after the distribution of tailoring machines to 15 beneficiaries. After a delightful photo session capturing the memorable moments, the beneficiaries were treated to a delicious lunch before heading home. A heartfelt thank you was extended to all attendees who graced the event with their blessings, including the photographers, the Shamina team, and all the dedicated staff of Sumaithangi Trust.
